Lisbon High School Celebrates Youth Art Month

Each year, Maine celebrates Youth Art Month with student art displays throughout the state.  Lisbon High School is proud to participate and celebrate Youth Art Month with The Maine Art Education Association (MAEA) and the Maine Education Association (MEA).

For the past 18 years the MAEA has had the pleasure of working in partnership with the Portland Museum of Art’s education department which embraced the concept of Youth Art Month. Every March the museum hosts an exhibition of K-12 student artwork from art programs across the state. Each member of MAEA may submit one piece of artwork per teacher per school for this exhibit. Lisbon High School is proud to have two students displaying their art work at the Portland Museum of Art:  Keely Domini and Charles Sult.  The MAEA hosted the opening night reception March 10th for all the student artists in the museum. During opening night Certificates of Participation and palette pins are individually awarded to all the student artists on the museums auditorium stage.  There are refreshments provided and served by MAEA members.

The second statewide exhibit is held at the Maine Education Offices in Augusta. The dedicated art teachers who are MEA members display almost one hundred pieces of artwork in this annual exhibition.  Emily Stevens is representing Lisbon High School in this exhibit which will be on view through October.

Lisbon High School staff and parents, especially art teachers Jennifer Fox and Pamela Ouellette, are proud of all its creative, hardworking art students.  We look forward to our Annual Student Art Show displayed at Lisbon High School on Tuesday, May 7th, 2:15-3:30pm and 6:00-8:00pm.  The event is free and open to the public.
