L/A Arts Gallery 5 opening reception for Frozen in Time: Celebrating the Art of the Still Life

L/A Arts Gallery 5 will host the opening reception for Frozen in Time: Celebrating the Art of the Still Life on Friday, March 25 from 5 to 7 pm at the downtown gallery, located at 49 Lisbon Street, Lewiston. The public is invited.

Robyn Holman, well respected curator of The Atrium Gallery at USM's Lewiston-Auburn College was the lead juror for the exhibit. Sue Donovan, on of L/A Arts' Board of Directors, worked with Robyn to select 62 works of art from over 140 submissions. Thirty-three artists will be featured in this beautiful exhibit that brings in a variety of art forms: illustration, oil, photography, watercolor, and sculpture.

A still life work of art typically depicts commonplace objects such as food, vases of flowers, books, and other ordinary objects. Careful study of the details of the objects and how they are arranged tells a unique story.

Hogan Family Fundraising

Fire & Iron Station 707 (Fire Fighters Motorcycle Club) And Gritty McDuffs in Auburn will be holding a fundraiser on April 2nd, 2011 from 5pm to 11 pm. Gritty’s will donate $1 from every pint sold to help us in our efforts to raise money for the Hogan Family.

This benefit is to help the Hogan family in Lisbon Falls who recently lost their home and two daughters (Natalie & Kelsey ) who were 11 and 6 in a fire on March 4th , 2011.  Natalie and Kelsey were two of the six children in the home at the time the fire started. Lorna their mother was able to get the other four children out of the house and went back into the blaze to try and rescue Natalie and Kelsey. Her attempts failed.
