Terminally ill man weds fiance in bittersweet ceremony
News

LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Instead of a white wedding gown, the bride in this ceremony wore a hospital gown.

Pam Lafreniere married Barry Hanson in his hospital room.

The wedding had been planned for the end of June, but on January 11th, Barry went to Central Maine Medical Center for a routine surgery.

What the doctors found reshaped the couple's lives.

Barry learned he had terminal cancer.

Barry's son, Aaron, performed the ceremony.

Many couples begin their marriages envisioning long lives together. This couple knows that will not be the case for them.

Barry was released from the hospital Tuesday. The couple has no plans for a honeymoon, they're simply looking forward to settling into their home together.
