LISBON CLASS OF 2013 PARTNERS WITH CRAFTS AUTO

Lisbon - Members of the Class of 2013 at Lisbon High School are offering a car raffle for a 2001 Honda Accord, two door coupe with 120,000 miles, with leather seats and sunroof .  The car was donated by John D. Crafts Auto Sales in Lisbon Falls.  Students are selling tickets for $ 5 each or 3 for $10.  Checks may be made payable to LHS Class of 2013.  LHS students and parents will be displaying the car around the community until the lucky ticket is drawn at the Moxie Festival on Saturday, July 14.  Proceeds from the raffle benefit the Class of 2013 Project Graduation.  Tickets are available at the main office of the Lisbon High School, 2 Sugg Drive in Lisbon Falls; Craft’s Auto Sales, Route 196, Lisbon Falls; or from any member of the Class of 2013.

Bates College Welcomes Public to Pride Week Events

A drag show featuring an acclaimed singer-songwriter, a discussion about LGBT activism including the head of a national civil rights campaign, and a film about homophobia in athletics are among public offerings during Pride Week at Bates College, taking place May 4-10.

The Bates student group OUTfront hosts the second annual festival. Events are open to the public at no cost. For more information, please contact Jarron Brady, OUTfront coordinator, at jbrady@bates.edu.

Lala’s lyrical and imaginative child’s eye lends fresh perspective to ages old racial issues, washing us all with the sweet wisdom of an old soul in a small body.

LISBON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ART EXHIBIT SCHEDULED FOR MAY 1

Lisbon - Lisbon High School is proud to announce their 24th Annual Student Art Show to be held on Tuesday, May 1st, 2012.  Over two hundred art students will exhibit work in a wide range of media including clay, photography, collage, watercolor, pastel, pencil, and mixed media.  Senior  and advanced artists will be highlighted as well as art work created by Chantal Bisson and Coby Williams whose works were selected for the Youth Art Month exhibit at the Portland Museum in March.   The art show will be held in the Lisbon High School library from 2:15 – 3:30pm and 6:00 – 8:pm.  Refreshments will be provided by SAAFE (Students Achieving A Functional Education), LHS Cafeteria Staff, Foods Class, and Art students.

LISBON L.A.C.O. PAYS FORWARD THANKS TO LISBON INTERACT CLUB

Lisbon – Members of the Lisbon High School Interact Club recently presented a $500 check to co-director, Carol Day, of The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (L.A.C.O.)   The donation was made possible through the Club’s WCSH6 Teens Who Care $2,000 Award.  Students completed 21 local projects and contributed over 4,000 hours of community service.  L.A.C.O. is conveniently located at the MTM building, 16 School Street in Lisbon Falls.   The panty is open Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursdays 10 a.m. until noon; and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.   Assistance is available to anyone in need who resides in the towns of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon.  The Food Pantry operates through the generous giving of local volunteers from seven area churches.

Nominate a Teen for Teens Who Care

Do you know a teen, or a group of teens, who go above and beyond for those in their community?  So many teens are doing good deeds all over the state, and we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the good work that they do.  Maybe it is a club at school that gets them involved, or perhaps they volunteer through an organization, if you know a deserving teen in your area please contact us as we are accepting nominations.  There is no deadline, we accept nominations year-round.  Each teen selected as one of our Teens Who Care will receive a $2000 scholarship to the college of their choice; where as the group/club of teens selected will receive $2000 to support a non-profit of their choice.

LISBON DANCING WITH THE STAFF FINALE THURSDAY, APRIL 12!
