Lisbon Community School Auction has Something for Everyone

Lisbon - The Lisbon Community School Parent Teacher Organization welcomes you to their Spring Auction on May 4th. LCS students between Pre-K and Fifth grade have great field trips due to fundraising like the auction. Regular student trips include Bryant Pond and Boston and the entire community is welcome to events like the Star Party, Dr. Seuss Night, Harvest Festival and more.

“We’ve got some great donations from businesses from all over. Camping trips, dance lessons, flute lessons, gift certificates to Splashtown and Joker’s will all be up for bid,” shares auction chair Heather Cronin.   “And don’t forget to pick your square for cow patty bingo.” The person that picks the square where the cow goes plop will win.

Student soloists featured in Bates College Orchestra concert

 

LEWISTON, Maine -- Three Bates College seniors are featured as instrumental soloists in works by Franz Strauss, Max Bruch and Wolfgang Mozart as the Bates College Orchestra performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St.

The Bates orchestra is conducted by Hiroya Miura, associate professor of music. The March 9 program comprises five works:

  • Edvard Grieg's music for "Peer Gynt," Suite No. 1;
  • the first movement of Strauss's Horn Concerto No. 1, featuring hornist Molly Bruzzese of West Hartford, Conn.;
  • Bruch's Romance for Viola and Orchestra, with Jessica Cooper of Unionville, Conn., as soloist;
  • the first movement of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A major (K.
